Wow! The weather is wreaking havoc with my economy. Cody was a flat out ghost town Thursday night. I left work early since it was so slow and did a drive around to see how other restaurants and motels were faring. All the other restaurants were as deserted as we were, the motels all had vacancy signs and Sheridan Avenue looked like it does in January, without the snow.
Last night was better because it was Friday, but there still isn’t much going on in town.
Maybe it’s the weather or maybe tourists actually read the Cody Enterprise. In a story published on May 22, 2009, the newspaper quoted Irma owner John Darby as saying, “Please come, and please bring money” in big letters on the front page. I don’t know if the Enterprise was trying to embarrass Mr. Darby or if they wanted to highlight what a bunch of money grubbing beggars we are. Either way, it was in really bad taste.
