Recently I was looking around on Trip Advisor and I found this little gem from a local woman reviewing the restaurant:

We have eaten at The Restaurant over the summer and their service is appalling. The food is cold, the service is worse and The Restaurant will actually become annoyed if you complain. Now, the lucky person will get a couple of the old gals that work there and have a good experience. If The Restaurant is crowded,,,,,, just keep driving,,,,,, trust me its not worth it. One night I actually had a waitress start screaming and yelling at me because I sent the ribs back which were cold and was honest about the service. The management did not get back to me in spite of repeated attempts to address this behavior. We knew several other patrons and all of us were in shock. We have not been back since.

Seriously?!  As one of the “old gals”, I don’t know whether to be complimented or offended.  I think maybe the reviewer is this crazy woman, but she’s did say the “old gals” provide good service.   The reason the management didn’t get back to her is her server probably had a much different opinion about the experience, and they tend to believe the servers.  The management is used to local people trying to get a free meal.  And what is with the commas? 

Curious, I investigated her other reviews to see if maybe she was the crazy woman and I found her review on The Irma:

The Irma is one of my favorite places to eat in cody. The old gals can be snotty, slow and will get to you eventually. However, the prime rib buffet is unbelievable!!! And all you can eat. You will never go wrong at the Irma if you have the buffet. On major holidays and busy times,,,,, be prepared to order drinks and wait a bit. The atmosphere is great.

Again, what is with the commas?  Maybe the reason the “old gals” are “snotty, slow and will get to you eventually” is because the reviewer is condescending and most likely leaves a poor tip.  I know I don’t bust my ass to get to a table that has a history of leaving me dick. 

I noticed she also reviewed the Cody Night Rodeo:

The Extreme Bull riding was great. However, this summer the price of the tickets jumped and makes it unaffordable for many families. The rodeo lost many visitors this summer and still would not learn the tickets were too high!! The announcer talked and talked and talked because the rodeo actually did not have much to offer. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers; he is overbearing. People come to rodeos to see bulls,,,,,not hear bull all night long. We were shocked they charged us and did not tell us there would be no bull riders. The entire night was spent watching kids and I guess beginners. Many people left and our guests were extremely bored. We were embarrassed by taking our guests to this rodeo last friday night. If you plan a trip to cody by the way,,,, greed is in full force here. Make sure you realize you will be charged $200.00 a night and up with local tax of course, if you shop downtown,,,,,,, well lets say if your a millionaire you will be okay,,, maybe and if go to the rodeo,,,,,, be prepared to pay well and do not get hungry!!! A beer is three dollars and a hot dog is three fifty.

I’m surprised someone from the Chamber of Commerce hasn’t beaten this woman with a stick.  She is basically saying don’t come to Cody because we are a bunch of greedy bastards. 

Two BIG thumbs up to you from those of us who earn our living from the tourist industry.

What she should have written is that most Cody locals are cheap-asses who think they should get something for nothing.  People who live in other places pay way more for housing, food, entertainment, and sporting events than we do here.  Ticket prices for the Cody Night Rodeo are $18 for adults and $9 for kids.  Tickets to the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo are $16-$22 with no discount for kids.  Six dollars for a beer and a hot dog at Coors Field in Denver is a bargain.  A hotel room for less than $200 a night in downtown Denver is cheap.  At least here you don’t have to worry about getting mugged or seeing hookers servicing their clients.
